Art in the Atrium Opening Reception: “Feather & Flame: Portraits of Wonder” by Angela Scott

Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs is hosting its next exhibition in the Orange County Administration Center.

Feather & Flame: Portraits of Wonder by Angela Scott will be on display soon in the Atrium Gallery, Orange County Administration Center, 201 S. Rosalind Ave., Orlando, with an opening reception being held on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The exhibit will be on display through Thursday, September 3, 2026. The Administration Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5:30 pm, excluding holidays.

Angela Scott is a multimedia artist whose expressive acrylic, mixed media, and watercolor paintings celebrate the quiet beauty, resilience, and wonder of the natural world.

In Feather & Flame: Portraits of Wonder, Scott encourages viewers to experience wildlife not simply as subjects to observe, but as invitations to slow down, embrace curiosity, and discover the beauty that quietly surrounds us.

Admission to the opening reception on August 14, 2026 at The Atrium Gallery is free, but advanced registration is requested. Doors open at 5 pm, with the program beginning at 5:45 pm.

About The Artist

Angela Scott is a contemporary artist whose work celebrates the quiet beauty, resilience, and wonder found in the natural world. Working in primarily acrylic, but also with mixed media and watercolor, she creates expressive portraits of birds and wildlife that invite viewers to pause, look closer, and reconnect with the extraordinary hidden in everyday moments.

Living in Central Florida with her husband and two neurodivergent children, Angela draws inspiration from the way they experience the world: with curiosity, honesty, and an appreciation for details that are often overlooked. That perspective has transformed not only how she sees nature, but how she approaches painting. Each piece becomes less about documenting an animal and more about capturing its spirit, personality, and emotional presence.

Layering bold color, rich texture, metallic accents, and expressive mark-making, Angela balances realism with imagination to create works that feel both familiar and dreamlike. Birds frequently take center stage, serving as symbols of resilience, freedom, transformation, and individuality; qualities that echo throughout her collection.
