Exciting news as Zymarium Meadery is gearing up for a summer opening at 1121 N Mills Ave. Cheers!
Joe and Ginger Leigh are co-owners of Zymarium Meadery, a unique concept that is coming soon to the city’s Mill 50 District at 1121 N Mills Ave.
The business has been a long time in the planning and although the couple had hoped to have the meadowy open in 2022, its great to know that Zymarium Meadery is getting ready to open the doors!
As some you may know, Joe and Ginger ran a successful crowdfunding campaign that raised $44,568 towards opening their meadery.
The location in Mills 50 which was previously home to Orange Studio and Say It Loud! advertising agency, is 6,000 square feet space which will consist of a large bar/taproom area, production area, and separate areas that will be open for special events.
Joe and Ginger have shared the latest on the progress of Zymarium Meadery, "It's been a very long road to get to this point, and passing all of the final inspections was the culmination of all the individual hurdles along the way."
The couple explained what they have been doing behind the scenes as they prepare to open their new business, "While Joe's been focusing heavily on the mead production side of things over the past several months, the physical buildout of the meadery has been Ginger's blood, sweat, and tears from the beginning and every step of the way, starting with the design of the taproom before we even signed the lease, and seeing that vision through to end."
As the couple gear up for the opening, they are already hiring as they put together a few final touches before soft opening.
Joe and Ginger promise that they will announce their soft opening dates *very soon* as they get a better idea of a realistic timeline in the upcoming weeks.
Zymarium Meadery is a collaboration between co-owners Joe Leigh and Ginger Leigh who are bringing together their individual and shared passions to showcase the art and science of making high quality, flavorful meads.
Joe Leigh, who is Zymarium's master mead-maker, has developed over 85 unique and highly rated meads with over 30 medals and awards in mead making in the past 3 years, including 6 Mazer Cups, and was named one of the top 10 AMMA National Mead Makers of the year in 2018 and 2019.
Ginger Leigh, who is known professionally as Synthestruct, is a multisensory artist and experience designer whose large scale audio-visual works and interactive installations have been presented at venues around the world, and was voted Orlando's 'Best Visual Artist' for her works throughout the city at Snap! Gallery, Immerse, Dazzling Nights, and the Orlando Science Center.
Creating new experiences for all the senses is at the heart of Zymarium Meadery, both in how we craft our meads, and through our tasting room, which will be designed entirely by Synthestruct, who specializes in creating futuristic and immersive experiences that utilize the latest in creative technology.
The tasting room will embody this passion for sensory exploration as a space for guets to indulge in new experiences to pair with your favorite meads (or flight!) of choice.
They will have 12 different taps for guests to try when they visit the meadery, spanning many different styles of mead, which will be constantly rotating with new flavors to explore! There will be carbonated Session meads, which emulate craft beer styles and strength, pure honey meads ("Traditionals"), which have a wonderfully balanced semi-sweet profile to showcase Florida's incredible range of local honey flavors, and Imperial Meads, which are big and bold, letting you get lost in the flavors of honey, fruit, or other fun things like coconut, vanilla, or chocolate.
