This global event will take place at aquatic venues all over the world on Thursday, June 26, 2025, with the goal of sharing the "Swimming Lessons Save Lives" message with millions so that every man, woman or child learns to swim.
The World's Largest Swimming Lesson is a promotional event designed to build awareness and generate local and national media attention about the vital importance of teaching kids to swim to help prevent drowning and improve quality of life. What's exciting about the WLSL event is that so many organizations and individual aquatic facilities come together to make it happen.
Host locations are hosting special events or conducting swim lessons through out the day.
Since its inception in 2010, TEAM WLSL has shared the message Swimming Lesson Save Lives with billions of kids and adults. TEAM WLSL believe that this event can make a positive difference in the lives of children and adults around the world and drive home the message that learning to swim is as important to general safety as wearing a helmet when riding a bike or wearing a seat belt when riding in a car.

This incredible event will bring the community together to promote water safety and teach essential swimming skills. It will be a fun-filled day with participants of all ages making a splash and learning how to stay safe in the water.

Join the City of St Cloud on Thursday, June 26 from 9 am to 12 pm at Chris Lyle Aquatic Center (2991 17th Street) for free 30-minute swim lessons, a DJ, water slides, paddleboard rides, CPR demos, and more.

Walt Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon water park hosts the World's Largest Swimming Lesson annually. In 2024, nearly 1,000 children from Central Florida nonprofits participated in the event at Disney World, making it the largest WLSL site in the country.
WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW
Drowning is silent and can happen in as little as 20-60 seconds. Drowning doesn't look like it does on TV or in the movies.
Enroll your kids in swimming lessons; learning to swim is the strongest defense against drowning.
Being safe in and around the water requires more than just swimming lessons. It requires layers of protection, including: careful supervision of children, appropriate fencing and safety equipment, protection from hazards, knowing what to do in an emergency, including CPR, and an understanding that safety is a personal responsibility.
Never leave kids alone in or around water, not even for a second. Put the cell phone away and give young children 100% of your attention when they are near or around water.
Have young children or inexperienced swimmers wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets around water, but do not rely on life jackets alone.
There is always risk associated with being in, on and around the water. But, loss of life from drowning CAN and SHOULD be prevented and we have the power to make that happen.
Learning to swim and the exposure to the water safety skills and messages that swimming lessons offer provide a lifelong foundation for drowning prevention.
