What If Trick-or-Treating Grew Up? Oviedo Mall answer the questions with Sip or Treat: Slasherfest!

1980’s slasher-inspired Sip & Stroll brings complimentary food and wine tastings, local vendors, costumes, and spooky surprises to Oviedo Mall.

Remember trick-or-treating? The costumes. The anticipation. Wandering from stop to stop wondering what you'd get next. Oviedo Mall thinks adults deserve another turn.
This spooky season, the mall is putting an adults' night-out twist on a Halloween tradition with Sip or Treat: Slasherfest, taking place Thursday, October 29th, from 5:30–8 pm at Oviedo Mall.
The special edition of the mall's popular Sip & Stroll series is inspired by the gloriously over-the-top slasher movies of the 1980s.
The free event invites guests to grab their friends, put on a costume and make their way through Oviedo Mall enjoying complimentary food samples and wine tastings, shopping a curated marketplace of local artists and makers, and encountering Halloween surprises along the way.
“We started with a very simple question: What if trick-or-treating grew up with us?” said Josh
Gunderson, Marketing & Events Director for Oviedo Mall. “You still get dressed up. You still wander from stop to stop. You still don't know exactly what you're going to find around the next corner. Except now there are local vendors, food and wine involved, and you're allowed to stay out past 9.”
Trick-or-Treating, All Grown Up
Guests will begin their Sip or Treat adventure at the North Entrance near Regal Cinemas, where attendees 21 and older can present a valid government-issued ID to receive a wristband for alcoholic beverage tastings.
From there, guests can stroll through the mall at their own pace, stopping at participating businesses for complimentary food and beverage samples while exploring a specialty marketplace featuring local artists, makers and Halloween-themed vendors.
The evening will also feature spooky photo opportunities, Halloween music, themed décor and surprises throughout the mall.
Costumes are strongly encouraged, giving guests the opportunity to channel their favorite final girl, classic monster, mysterious stranger or whatever else has been waiting in the back of the closet for October.

Welcome to Slasherfest
While Sip or Treat takes inspiration from traditional trick-or-treating, Slasherfest gives the evening its distinctly grown-up Halloween personality.
The event draws inspiration from the larger-than-life world of classic 1980s slasher films: VHS-era horror, ominous summer camps, suspiciously empty hallways, final girls and the general understanding that splitting up to investigate a strange noise is never a particularly good idea.
The result is designed to feel nostalgic without requiring guests to be horror aficionados.
“Halloween doesn't stop being fun because you grew up,” Gunderson said. “Some of us still want to put on a costume, wander around with our friends and collect treats. We've just traded the plastic pumpkin ucket for a wine glass. Slasherfest lets us capture some of that bchildhood excitement again while creating Halloween events people normally expect.
Sip or Treat is designed as an evening for date nights, groups of friends and anyone looking for a different way to celebrate spooky season in Central Florida.
Sip or Treat: Slasherfest will take place Thursday, October 29th, from 5:30–8 pm at Oviedo Mall. There is no admission fee or registration required, and the food and beverage stroll is complimentary. Guests participating in alcoholic beverage tastings must be 21 or older and present a valid physical government-issued ID at check-in.
The entire event takes place indoors at Oviedo Mall and will be held rain or shine.
Guests of all ages may attend the event and marketplace; alcoholic beverage samples are restricted to properly wristbanded guests age 21 and older.
Sip responsibly. Shop local. And whatever you do, don't investigate the strange noise by yourself.
