Permission to Speak is coming to Orlando, with the show taking to the stage at the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater on December 29, 2023. Tickets are available now.


The show was met on Broadway with rave reviews and nominated for the prestigious “Most Unique Show” Broadway Alliance Award. In this exciting comedy show with a twist, the audience stars WITH Paul who improvises with audience members – randomly bringing folks on stage and letting them share their often hilarious, jaw-dropping personal stories.


Paul Mecurio’s Permission to Speak had a critically acclaimed, sold-out run off-Broadway. The show stars Paul Mecurio, an Emmy and Peabody award winning comedian/actor. Paul, a star on the national stage, has logged countless hours in TV, film and the theater. He’s appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, HBO, CBS, Late, Late Show, The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart, NBC, MSNBC, CBS Sunday Morning,The Colbert Report, The Tonight Show, ABC and his own Comedy Central Special, among others.


Permission to Speak is directed and produced by Frank Oz, legendary director of such films as Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Bowfinger, Stepford Wives, and Little Shop of Horrors. Frank is known for his work as Yoda in the “Star Wars” franchise, his close collaboration with Jim Henson creating/performing many iconic Muppet characters, as an actor - Knives Out, The Blues Brothers - and is an Emmy, Peabody and Grammy Award-winner.


The show's set is designed by 23-time Emmy Winner for Production Design, Jim Fenhagen. For the last 25 years, Jim has created internationally recognized and award-winning designs for theater, broadcast, restaurants, museums and corporate events. Jim has designed sets for, among others, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Olympic Games, 5 Super Bowls, Good Morning America, ESPN, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and The Today Show.


"Permission to Speak" will feature never-before seen animation by acclaimed, award-winning animator J. J. Sedelmaier. J.J. is an illustrator, designer, author, film director and producer. He is the artist behind ground-breaking animation such as MTV's Beavis & Butt-Head, Saturday Night Live's - TV Funhouse Cartoons, including The Ambiguously Gay Duo, ABC's relaunch of Schoolhouse Rock, and Cartoon Network's Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law.
