Visitors can enjoy watching the artists work en plein air, from the boardwalk at Wekiva Island to the trails at Wekiwa Springs and even on the river in canoes.

In the last 20 years, the fashions have changed, the technology has evolved and the population of Central Florida has blossomed. But one thing that has stood the test of time? The Wekiva Paint Out captures the area’s unique natural resources in art.
The event will celebrate its 20th year from Feb. 23 to 28, 2026, bringing world-class artists to Wekiva Island, Wekiwa Springs State Park and the surrounding areas to create plein air masterpieces. Visitors can watch artists work, tour the gallery and even purchase pieces right from the easel.
Just as intended by founder William “Big Bill” Tippit in 2006 when the event started, the Wekiva Paint Out raises awareness of the need to protect the Wekiva River. Proceeds benefit Keep Seminole Beautiful and the Wekiva Wilderness Trust
“The fact that we’re celebrating this milestone of 20 years is a testament to what the Wekiva Paint Out means to these artists, the community, and our environment,” said Mary Weinaug, the event’s organizer and executive director of Keep Seminole Beautiful. “Come out for a few hours and watch these artists work and you’ll see what I mean. They capture the beauty in a way that inspires you to want to protect these surroundings.”

The week includes several special events:
