Save The Date - Come Out With Pride Orlando is determined to march on this September

Updated: May 27, 2023

Despite the recent cancellations of other Florida pride events, Come Out With Pride Orlando is determined to march on!

Come Out With Pride Orlando

Organizers of Come Out With Pride Orlando are reassuring everyone that the family friendly event will be taking place on October 21 despite legislation from Florida Govenor Ron DeSantis who appears to be targeting the LGBTQIA+ community here in Florida.

Recent pride events have been cancelled including PRIDE in St. Cloud, and The Tampa Pride Board Parade, both of whom cited the fact that Gov DeSantis has signed several bills that banned gender-affirming care for minors, restricted pronoun use in schools and forced individuals to use restrooms corresponding with their biological sex — an expansion to the “Don’t Say Gay” bill enacted into law last year.

Plus, the main issue for Pride organisers across the state is bill SB 1438, which aims to prohibit children from attending "adult live performances", and while early versions of the bill would only prohibit the presence of children in private venues, an amendment introduced by Sen. Clay Yarborough proposed an amendment that would expand the proposed restrictions to public spaces, as well, which would affect Pride events throughout Florida.

But, rather than cancel Orlando's festivities, Come Out With Pride Orlando organizers say that they are determined to march on, and stress that, as always, they will continue to be a family friendly event, welcoming all members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including families and youth.

Organizers say "During these critical times, it is more important than ever for us to come together, unite our voices, and show up & show out for our community. Join us for the biggest and best Come Out With Pride, yet!"

Here is the full announcement from Come Out With Pride Orlando:

"Despite the cancellations of other Florida pride events, Come Out With Pride is determined to march on!

Mark your calendars for October 21st, when we will host our annual Pride event at Lake Eola Park. As always, we will continue to be a family friendly event, welcoming all members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including families and youth.

Come Out With Pride Orlando also stands in solidarity with drag performers and the drag community. We recognize that drag has been a cornerstone of LGBTQIA+ culture and history. We strongly support and continue our intentional inclusion of the trans and non-binary community. This year, we will be hosting the Central Florida Trans March & Rally and launching our new Trans Pride.

During these critical times, it is more important than ever for us to come together, unite our voices, and show up & show out for our community. Join us for the biggest and best Come Out With Pride, yet!"
