Could Orlando be about to get an underground public transportation system, similar to The Vegas Loop in Las Vegas?

There is growing speculation that Elon Musk’s The Boring Company could bring a Las Vegas-style underground transportation system to the heart of Orlando's tourist district, International Drive.
And if you've ever been stuck in traffic on International Drive, especially as a major convention ends at the Orange County Convention Center then the rumors of a tunnel bypassing I-Drive sounds amazing, but could the rumors be true? Or is a tunnel really a good idea for the business on I-Drive that rely on passing trade?
When we first heard about the rumors that Universal Orlando Resort and Elon Musk’s The Boring Company were in talks about building a tunnel between the new Epic Universe and the rest of the Universal resort we thought it was more of as an attraction to get between the parks much in he way that The Hogwarts Express at Universal Orlando Resort transports guests between the two "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" areas: Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida.
Then the rumors were made public by the Orlando Business Journal, and that Universal and The Boring Company are in talks to bring an underground transportation system to the International Drive area, offering a system much the same the Vegas Loop, which was also designed by The Boring Company to ease traffic in Las Vegas.
We can see the benefit for Universal, especially if the sysyem was to say be extended to Orlando international Airport as some rumors suggest. This would keep Universal guests in the Universal "bubble," but what about the smaller attractions on I-Drive, the restaurants, and gift shops, would they see a major downturn in business as less people would be on I-Drive?
As of right now, there is no official word from either Universal Orlando Resort or The Boring Company, It's also unclear if the system would only link Universal, or if it would link to other attractions, resorts, the convention center, train stations, the airport or more.
For now it's only speculation, but for sure talks are taking place, and we will keep an eye on developments and let you know the latest.
