Premiere Cinema 14 movie theater at Orlando Fashion Square Mall closing March 12

Sad news as one of the last remaining tenants within Orlando Fashion Square Mall has announced its closure more than two decades after opening.

Premiere Cinema 14, the movie theater inside the Orlando Fashion Square Mall is closing its doors forever, announcing the news to guests on its website and Facebook page that it will screen its last movie on March 12 due to future redevelopment plans for the mall.

"We will miss the laughs, screams and tears we have shared over the last 22 years!" the movie theater commented, thanking gusts for supporting them, "We are incredibly grateful for the years of support from our guests and the community. Thank you for sharing your love of movies with us, it has truly been our pleasure to serve you."

Guests are being encouraged to use gift cards before the final day of operation on March 12, as the next closest location is in Plant City, Premiere Cinemas only other Florida location.

Premiere CInema 14, opened at the two-story Orlando Fashion Square 22 years ago, and has operated throughout the good times, and the not so good times at the mall, which is now a shadow of its former self with only a handful of tenants left, including anchors Macy's, Dillard's Outlet, and Planet Fitness.

The mall located at 3201 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, opened in July 1973, and is the region’s longest-standing enclosed mall. Originally featuring over 30 retailers, it was once a thriving shopping destination, but in recent years, the mall has lost out to newer retail developments including Mall at Millenia, and Orlando International Premium Outlets.

Lost retailers include J.C. Penny, Sears, Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Claire's, Finish Line, Journeys, Hot Topic and Spencer Gifts, with shoppers greeted by dozens of empty retail units.

It's unclear what redevelopments are planned for the mall, or indeed what the future holds for the remaining tenants within the mall as no plans have been announced.
