Njeri Kinuthia is a Kenyan-born multi-media visual artist based in Orlando, see her latest exhibition in Winter Park.

The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens has announced the upcoming exhibition Je, Niko Huru? Threads of Freedom showcasing the works of multi-media artist Njeri Kinuthia.
The exhibition will be on view in the Polasek Gallery May 6 – August 17, 2025, with most
pieces available for purchase.
Njeri Kinuthia draws inspiration from her life experience growing up in a small village in Kenya. Through her artwork, she explores her experiences and growing unease with the social norms that confine women in a patriarchal society.
Focusing on self-portraiture, Kinuthia utilizes multiple materials and mediums, inserting herself into her works on her own terms. Her compositions often depict female figures with tightly woven fabrics wrapped around their head and faces, evoking feelings of suffocation to symbolize women’s oppression.
Her distinctive style incorporates colorful and vibrant textiles from Kenya, along with donated
repurposed fabrics from local women’s organizations.
The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens is honored to exhibit Njeri Kinuthia’s unique creations that challenge the relationship between cultural traditions and personal identity, encouraging viewers to reflect, challenge, and ultimately defy the limitations imposed upon them by society.
Programs will include artist lectures, demonstrations, and community youth programs.
