Low cost airline Avelo flying into Daytona Beach Airport with flights from New Haven, Connecticut

Today, Wednesday, April 5, Daytona Beach International Airport announced that low-cost airline Avelo Airlines will begin service between New Haven, Connecticut and Daytona Beach beginning June 22.

The new nonstop service could boost the local Daytona economy by more than $11 million a year, according to a study commissioned by the airport.

Avelo will operate the route twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays on Boeing 737-700 aircraft, with capacity for 149 passengers in single class.

Avelo Airlines said that Daytona Beach was one of their most-requested routes. "It's easy, convenient, and it's going to make getting in and out and to the beach or to the convention center or to whatever brings you to Daytona, quick easy and simple, and that's how we operate."

Introductory fares on the new route start at $49 one way.
