Jurassic Park River Adventure closing for 10 Month Refurbishment at Universal Orlando

One minute, you’re gliding along in your raft. The next, you’re face to face with a giant T. rex. There’s nowhere to turn. She’s bearing down on you and your only escape from her razor sharp teeth is to take the pitch-black plunge before you. Did we mention it’s an 85-foot drop?

If you want to enjoy a river adventure at Universal's Islands of Adventure, you better get plans made before the start of January, because Jurassic Park River Adventure is going to be closed for the majority of 2026!

Universal Orlando has scheduled what appears t be a pretty major refurbishment of the popular Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure in 2026.

The attraction will be closed from January 5, 2026, to November 19, 2026, roughly a 10-month closure, but don't get too excited about huge changes to the attraction as according to Universal, the refurbishment is for “planned maintenance” only.

The length of the refurbishment is unusual, typically, the attraction closes each year over the winter months for only a short period for essential maintenance, and although the ride does not appear to be getting an upgrade similar to Universal Studios Hollywood, where their version of the attraction was upgraded, and themed to the newer Jurassic World films. the length of the closure does appear to be for more that what i a usual yearly refurb, which could involve track replacement, possibly?
