Join Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra for Opening Night: Grieg’s Piano Concerto

Join the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra for an unforgettable evening of musical brilliance at theri 2025/26 season opener, featuring some of the most iconic works in symphonic music.

Taking place on Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Dr. Phillips Center – Steinmetz Hall, the concert begins with Rossini’s Overture to William Tell, a piece that sets the stage with its dynamic energy and sweeping melodies.

Following that, the powerful and expressive Piano Concerto by Grieg performed by Sara Buechner will showcase the exceptional skill of a world-class soloist, bringing to life its vivid emotional range and virtuosic piano passages.

These timeless works offer a perfect blend of excitement, drama, and elegance, making it an ideal way to kick off the 25/26 Season.

After intermission, prepare for the majesty of Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, a rare opportunity to experience one of the most powerful and emotionally charged works in the classical repertoire. Whether you are looking for stirring themes or intricate musical dialogues, Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 has it all and will leave a lasting impression for all concertgoers.

Eric Jacobsen, Conductor

Already well-established as one of classical music’s most exciting and innovative young conductors, Eric Jacobsen combines fresh interpretations of the traditional canon with cutting-edge collaborations across musical genres. Hailed by the New York Times as “an interpretive dynamo,” Eric, as both a conductor and a cellist, has built a reputation for engaging audiences with innovative and collaborative programming.

Eric is entering his tenth season as Music Director of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, as he continues to pioneer the orchestra’s programming and community engagement in new and exciting directions. The 24-25 Season looks forward to concerts including An Evening with Jamie Bernstein and the World Premiere of Gabe Kahane’s clarinet concerto for Anthony McGill.
