Adopt-a-Tree events seek to give Orange County residents an opportunity to expand their landscape by giving away, or adopting, trees.
The University of Florida IFAS Extension Orange County and Orange County are once again giving away trees to Orange County residents.
Trees in your landscape can provide a habitat for wildlife, create shade for homes and capture excess carbon in the air!
October's Adopt-a-Tree event takes place this Saturday, October 19, at Dr. P. Phillips Community Park, located at 8249 Buenavista Woods Blvd, Orlando, FL 32836.
At these popular Adopt-a-Tree events, Orange County residents can pick up available tree species from 8 am to 12 pm. There is a limit of 2 per household. Residents are asked to bring proof of residency, in the form of a driver license, photo ID or utility bill.
The species at each event depends on what trees are provided by the nursery. Here are the species of trees expected:
Tabebuia (yellow)
Crepe Myrtle
Yaupon Holly
Red Maple
Oak, Bald Cypress
Winged Elm
Japanese Blueberry
Red Cedar
Magnolia
Hong Kong Orchid
