On the day that a first ever excessive heat warning was issued for the majority of Central Florida, many areas have recorded the hottest days ever.

This morning, Wednesday, August 9, The National Weather Service elevated its heat advisory today for Orlando and the majority of Central Florida to an Excessive Heat Warning, which was in effect to 7 pm.
This was the first-ever excessive heat warning for the Orlando area, and as temperatures soared throughout the day, Orlando, Sanford, and Daytona Beach tied and broke records for the hottest day Wednesday.
Wednesday's temperature in Orlando reached 99 for the second day in a row, again tying the record for the hottest day which occurred back in 1987, in Sanford, temps have reached 98, breaking the 1987 record of 96. Over in Daytona Beach, the previous record of 96 which was back in 2019, has been beaten with a high of 98.
The feels like temps across Orlando today have averaged 115, ranging from 107 to 117 degrees.
For Thursday, the majority of Central Florida is under an excessive heat watch, although this will probably be upgraded to an exessive heat warning by tomorrow.
The temperatures tomorrow are expected to remain around the same as today, around 99, with the heat index reaching 110-115 degrees.
The advice remains the same during this heat wave, stay hydrated, and limit your time outdoors if possible!
