Orange County Regional History Center in Orlando is giving you lots of good reasons to visit this weekend!


On Saturday, March 7, the History Center's monthly offering History Alive will take you into Florida's Natural World. Enjoy family-friendly activities throughout the day and guided tours at scheduled times.


Then on Sunday, you can enjoy free admission all day long at the History Center during Free Access Day.


It’s a great opportunity to step into a world where imagination takes center stage in the History Center's special exhibition, Animationland, and its companion exhibition, Drawing Magic: Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida. 


The day will include a panel presentation at 1 p.m. where you'll hear from artists who were part of Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida.

Meet Tracey the pencil dog and her quirky crew – Rooth, Drop, Inky, Uno, and Kari – as they invite visitors on a fantastically immersive journey into the art and science of storytelling. Families and fans of all ages can dive into hands-on activities such as storyboarding, sketching, and stop-motion filmmaking while discovering how animated features are brought to life.


With colorful characters and interactive stations, Animationland empowers everyone to experiment, play, and create their own stories through the magic of animation.


Step into a world where imagination takes center stage at the History Center’s new special exhibition, Animationland.

And that’s just the beginning – Animationland also celebrates a remarkable local chapter in animation history. Drawing Magic: Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida explores the groundbreaking studio that operated at Disney-MGM Studios from 1989 to 2004.


Visitors will discover how Florida artists contributed to such beloved films as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mulan, and Lilo & Stitch, and how the studio helped define Disney’s animation renaissance. Through artifacts, stories, and artwork, this section reveals the creative community that has flourished right here in Central Florida.


With unique artifacts, fascinating history, and beautiful artwork, there's something for everyone!

Plus, Disney fans won't want to miss the Walt Disney Feature Animators Panel at 1pm on Sunday, March 8. Meet the artists who contributed to such beloved films as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mulan, and Lilo & Stitch, and how the studio helped define Disney’s animation renaissance.


This program is free as part of the Free Access Day at the Orange County Regional History Center.

The History Center is located in the restored 1927 courthouse at Magnolia Avenue and Central Boulevard in the heart of downtown Orlando. Parking is available in the Library Parking Garage at 112 E. Central Blvd. across from the Orlando Public Library.
