Drag Boat Racing returns to Eustis with the Lake Eustis Summer Showdown!

Updated: Jul 26, 2023

Central Florida can look forward to a huge weekend of boat racing at Lake Eustis, the first time boat racing has taken place in the area since the early 2000s.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, boat racing took place on Lake Eustis regularly, and now, the City of Eustis has teamed up with the Southern Outlaw Dragboat Association to bring boat racing back to Lake Eustis on Saturday July 29, and Sunday, July 30, 2023.

50 plus boats are expected, with racing beginning at 11 am on Saturday and 12 pm on Sunday, running until approximately 6 pm each day.

The Eustis Events and Tourism team has paired the event with the annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 29. There will be vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, and more for all to enjoy.

Plus, from 12 pm until 3 pm, the City will be distributing 100 backpacks per hour to local school-aged residents. One backpack will be given to each child present, while supplies last.

One Blood will also be hosting the annual Golden Triangle Battle of the Badges blood drive from 11: am to 4 pm on Saturday, July 29th on Ferran Park Drive.

Residents are encouraged to donate in honor of local first responders who are competing to win the coveted traveling trophy. Appointments can be made by visiting www.oneblood.org/donate-now and using the sponsor code 68143.

The Eustis Aquatic Center will be open on Saturday, July 29 from 12 pm - 4 pm. and admission is free for the day. Swimsuits are required to enjoy both the pool and splash pad.

Local band TC and Sass will bring their high-energy music to the bandshell to cap off Saturday’s celebration from 6 pm - 9 pm.

Events and Tourism Manager, Miranda Muir said, “It is going to be an action-packed day in Ferran Park. We are excited to be working with so many community partners to bring yet another great event to Eustis.”

More information on this and other upcoming events can be found at www.eustis.org or by calling the Eustis Events and Tourism Department at 352-483-5491.
