A popular Thai restaurant in downtown Orlando has had its after-midnight alcohol sales permit reinstated, after it was suspended by the city for 30 days.
Back in late August, the popular downtown Orlando restaurant and bar, Napasorn Thai Restaurant and Sake Bar was the first to have its after-midnight alcohol sales permit suspended by the city of Orlando on August 18.
The city of Orlando introduced the new after-midnight alcohol sales code on May 1, 2023, and under the new code, any businesses serving alcohol between the hours of midnight and 2 am have to apply for a permit while agreeing to add extra law enforcement protection, a weapons detection system, ID scanners and an occupancy load monitor system between 10 am and 2 am.
The decision by the city to temporarily revoke the Pine Street restaurant's late-night permit followed an inspection by the city where it was discovered that the restaurant was in violation of the permits requirements.
It had been revealed that during the July inspection, the restaurant did not have a weapons detection system, ID scanner or occupancy load monitoring system in use. This has resulted in a 30 day suspension notice from the City of Orlando.
During the suspension the restaurant was allowed to sell alcohol during the day but could not sell alcohol between midnight and 2 am.
Now that the 30 days are over, the restaurant's permit was reinstated on Sept. 17, allowing Napalm to resume after-midnight alcohol sales.
To date no other establishments with an after-midnight alcohol sales permits have been suspended by the city.
