The world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra strives to share the transformative power of music with the widest possible audience, and to create joy, connection and excitement through music in the Philadelphia region, across the country and around the world.

As part of the orchestra's 125th anniversary season, The Philadelphia Orchestra will share its music with audiences in Orlando on February 20.

One of the “Big Five” American orchestras, The Philadelphia Orchestra has long pushed the boundaries of convention in the classical music realm, presenting the world or American premieres of such important works as Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 (“Symphony of a Thousand”), Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder and Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances.

Be in Orlando as this legendary American orchestra performs for its 125th year in the acoustically-perfect surroundings of Steinmetz Hall.

Now in his 14th season as Music and Artistic Director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin continues to build on that legacy, shaping the Orchestra’s renowned “Philadelphia Sound” with imagination, intensity, and expressive depth. Under his leadership, the ensemble’s hallmark warmth and richness have taken on new vitality — a transformation The New York Times has praised as “phenomenal,” noting that the Orchestra “has never sounded better.”

This program in Orlando features two towering works from the symphonic repertoire: Brahms’s Third and Fourth Symphonies, masterpieces that unite classical clarity with profound Romantic passion. The Fourth Symphony, among Brahms’s most beloved and frequently performed works, unfolds with dark intensity and emotional depth, culminating in a finale often regarded as the pinnacle of his symphonic achievement.
