Discovery Cove to close Wednesday as Hurricane Idalia continues to target Florida

As Hurricane Idalia grows rapidly and is expected to come ashore with winds of 125 mph, only 5 mph below Category 4 strength, Discovery Cove here in Orlando has announced it is closing.

As Hurricane Idalia shapes up to be a major hurricane that is set to slam Florida with dangerous life threatening winds, here in Orlando Discovery Cove has announced its closing ahead of the incoming storm.

The park announced, "Due to the projected path of Hurricane Idalia, Discovery Cove will be closed on Wednesday, August 30. We are taking all necessary precautions to protect the safety of animals, employees and guests."

The park expect operation will resume on August 31.
