Martial arts athletes and enthusiasts from around the globe will gather in Orlando later this month for the much-anticipated International Karate Open.

Starting on August 30, Dezerland Park Orlando will come alive with the energy of martial arts from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Orlando International Karate Open. The event will bring athletes from over 20 countries to the heart of Central Florida for a thrilling day of top-tier karate.

The tournament will also host elite talent, from Olympians and world champions, like Douglas Brose, a 3-time World Champion, and Steven Da Costa, a Gold Medalist in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Athletes of all ages are invited to participate and immerse themselves in a day dedicated to the commitment and excellence of karate.

Spectators can enjoy competitions in two categories, Kata and Kumite. There will also be team competitions and competitions for para-karate for handicapped athletes.

“This event is an unparalleled opportunity for fans to witness exceptional martial arts and for competitors to showcase their skills on an international stage,” said Henry Barnabei, organizer of the Orlando International Karate Open. “With our celebrity athletes, community partners, and all of Dezerland Park’s attractions, we’re looking forward an unforgettable event!”

The competition will take place on Saturday, August 31. On Friday, August 30, there will be a Kumite Seminar and the event will close out with a Kata Seminar on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The Orlando International Karate Open aims to become an annual tradition, spreading the core values of karate and creating a space for both passionate enthusiasts and newcomers to connect and share their passion. The event is expected to draw between 1,500 and 2,500 guests.

Spectator tickets start at $10 and can be purchased online, here. Children three years old and under are free.
