Featuring classic songs like “Purple Rain,” “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy” and “I Would Die 4 U,” Purple Rain shaped music and pop culture with its innovative, boundary-pushing sound and accompanying romantic rock musical of the same name. Experience the album start to finish in Steinmetz Hall—plus more signature Prince tunes.
“These albums are historic and stand the test of time,” says Craig Martin, who founded Classic Albums Live in 2003. Skipping the costumes and impersonations, the project has earned massive popularity by concentrating solely on the music. “We don’t dress up or wear any sort of costume. All of our energy is put into the music. We want the performance to sound exactly like the album,” says Martin.
With over 100 shows a year, Classic Albums Live has become an audience favorite at performing arts centers and theaters across North America. “We created something that endures and connects,” Martin says. “These albums are sacred to people. We deliver exactly what we promote - ‘note for note, cut for cut’ accuracy.”
