Celebrating the ethnic diversity of Ybor City, Fiesta Day returns to historic Ybor City, taking over E 7th Avenue
The 77th Annual Fiesta Day which attracts families and people of all ages. returns to historic Ybor City, taking over E 7th Avenue on February 24 from 11 am - 6 pm. This massive free event organized by Ybor City Chamber of Commerce is a family-friendly, FREE event commemorating the Cuban, Italian, Spanish, Jewish and German immigrants that settled in Ybor City in the late1800’s as the cigar factories thrived.
The event originally started as a “verbena” or day of rest for the cigar workers who settled in Ybor City’s “Cigar Capital of the World” from Spain, Cuba, Germany and Italy. It now attracts thousands of passionate people to the festival’s exquisite ethnic food and entertainment.
Fiesta Day is the only event which closes Ybor City’s famed “La Septima” or 7th Avenue to traffic allowing pedestrians to explore the historic streets freely.
Vendors will line 7th Avenue and feature a variety of cultural foods, arts and crafts, specialty products, and organizations. There will also be live entertainment, on the Fiesta Stage, in Centro Ybor, and along 77th Ave. throughout the day! During the celebration, a Promenade of Flags will march down “La Septima” (77th Avenue) and showcase countries that have made Ybor City their home.
Ybor City is a melting pot of originality and culture based on its immigrant population. This all-day event features the traditions of the cultures that have influenced the community and still thrive today. Take a stroll through the historic district and experience the old and new of Ybor City.
