Big Storm Brewing Co has closed its Orlando location, following the closure of multiple locations across the state.
A big storm is brewing at award-winning Big Storm Brewing Co. as it announces the closure of its Orlando location, with the news coming on top of multiple closures across the Clearwater based chains locations.
Big Storm Brewing Co. announced on Saturday, June 15, that it was to close its Orlando taproom, a location that originally opened in April 2021. The company only gave two days notice of the closure of the location within the Kia Center.
While no reason was given for the closure, it appears that the company is drastically downsizing, and is in financial trouble.
On June 16, the company was forced to close its Ybor City location following its eviciton for allegedly owing around $400,000 in back rent.
Previosuly to this, the company was also forced to close its Odessa location in May after being served an eviction notice on that location for owning rent. Alo in May the compny closed its Pasco location.
This only leaves Big Storm Brewing Co. with a single location in Clearwater.
On top of the closure of its taprooms, a lawsuit has been filed alleging that the company and its owner, L.J. Govoni has ties to a troubled nonprofit, the Center for Special Needs Trust Administration in St. Petersburg.
This is a nonprofit that Florida’s Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against, alleging that its founder, Leo Govoni, L.J. Govoni’s father, siphoned off over $100 million meant to help disabled people. You can read more on this in an article by Tampa's News Channel 8, WFLA.
