As Tropical Storm Idalia continues to target Florida, counties across Central Florida have opened sandbag distribution sites in preparation for possible storm impacts.
As Tropical Storm Idalia continues on a path towards Florida, the storm is set to slam Florida as a major Category 3 Hurricane by the time it makes landfall somewhere between Tampa and the Big Bend area.
Officials are urging Florida residents to take action. and prepare for possible impacts from the storm. be prepared for hurricane-force winds, heavy rain, and flooding, which are all possible with this storm.
Everyone should be taking this time to check emergency kits and family plans, and to secure outdoor patio furniture, trim trees, and clean out gutters.
Here in Central Florida, flooding from heavy rain could be a real danger and sandbag locations are now open throughout the area.
In the event of a storm, residents can use sandbags to protect their home against flooding or water damage by strategically placing them around doorways, windows, and openings to divert or absorb water.

Orange County
Orange County Government's Office of Emergency Management is monitoring Tropical Storm Idalia. In preparation for heavy rain, the county will open its free self-service sandbag program at select parks.
Sites will operate today, Monday, Aug. 28, from 12 to 7 p.m., and Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., pending severe weather.

Seminole County sandbag operations are open today for residents to prepare for potential impacts from Tropical Storm Idalia.
Empty bags and sand are available; residents should bring their own shovels and a partner to assist with filling and loading.

Osceola County
Osceola County, City of Kissimmee Government, and City of St. Cloud, will host a sandbag site from Noon to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 28.
Supplies will be provided including bags and sand. Residents are allowed 25 sandbags per household and will need to bring their own shovel or filling tool.
Supplies are limited, and sandbags will be available for filling on a first-come, first-serve bases at Osceola Heritage Park (Shakerag Road) at 1211 Shakerag Road, Kissimmee, FL 3474.
Lake County
Sandbags will be available at the following locations at 11 a.m. Sand and bags will be available - residents should bring their own shovels and will need to fill their own bags.
