City District in partnership with Downtown Orlando and Downtown Arts District Orlando, have announced the launch of the first-ever Traffic Box Art Program in downtown Orlando!
City District Main Street, the official Main Street entity in downtown Orlando, in partnership with the Downtown Arts District and the Downtown Development Board are looking for local artists to showcase their talents by painting traffic boxes throughout the district, turning these typically mundane structures into works of art that brighten up our urban landscape.
City District's Summer 2023 Art Box Project will add art to 13 never before painted traffic signal boxes in high visibility public locations throughout Downtown Orlando.
Artists are invited to submit proposals for painting the traffic signal boxes, with City District Main Street looking for artists who have a unique style and perspective, and who are passionate about creating art that speaks to our community.
To apply, simply fill out the online application form and submit a portfolio of your previous work. If you’re selected to participate in the program, you will be supplied with the materials you need to bring your vision to life, as well as a $400 stipend for your time and effort.
Local businesses are also being invited to become a sponsor of the Art Box Program.
As a sponsor, you’ll have the opportunity to help beautify the city by supporting a local artist’s work on one of the traffic signal boxes.
