What can barrels and their journeys do to an American whiskey? While bourbon and rye technically start in new charred oak, the story doesn’t end there. That same whiskey might then rest in casks that once held Japanese whisky, Armagnac, port, sherry or wine. The spirit stays American at its core, but the added layers are global. This event at Judson's Live digs into the transformation of how wood, prior contents and time in those barrels change what you smell, taste and feel in the glass, and how to tell the difference. By the end of the night, you’ll know which finishes speak to you, how to spot them on a label or menu and how to use them to make your own home pours and tastings feel more intentional—and a lot more interesting. After the tasting wraps up, stick around to enjoy live music from the band and our full food and drink menu
