As predicted, now that Minion Café is open at Universal Studios Florida, Mel’s Drive-In Diner is now closed for a period of refurbishment.
Mel’s Drive-In Diner is currently closed for a period of refurbishment, so no more rock around the clock at this American Graffiti-inspired 50s drive-in for a few weeks at least.
While Universal Orlando have not announced a timeframe for the refurbishment, we expect Mel’s Drive-In Diner will re-open by mid July at the latest.
For fans of Mel's no need to panic, as the refurbishment will not change the theming or the overall look of the restaurant, with work concentrating on refreshing the restaurant only, with the classic vinyl booths staying!
