Disney v DeSantis Judge steps aside over Relative’s TINY Share in Disney!

Judge denies DeSantis bid to disqualify him from Disney case, but recuses himself anyway because his relative owns company’s stock

Disney v DeSantis Judge steps aside over Relative’s Shares in Disney

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis today won a victory in his ongoing legal battle with the Walt Disney Company, but not for the reasons he wanted the headlines to show!

DeSantis who is now running for President, had sought to have the federal judge in Disney lawsuit against DeSantis disqualified for bias, and DeSantis has had his wishes come true as U.S. District Judge Mark E. Walker did disqualify himself from the matter.

But... Walker’s self-disqualification had nothing to do with allegations that he could have discriminated against DeSantis’ attacks on Disney, the judge, who has ruled on other DeSantis-related matters in the past, recused himself because a family member owns 30 shares in Disney... YES 30!!!

Walker said that regardless of the amount of the investment,(30 shares!!! this financial turn of events could leave the impression of a lack of objectivity on his part that could affect the outcome of this case.

“Even though I believe it is highly unlikely that these proceedings will have a substantial effect on the Walt Disney Company, I choose to err on the side of caution, which here is also the side of judicial integrity, and disqualify myself,” Judge Walker wrote Thursday, noting how the case could impact Disney’s share prices.

“Maintaining public trust in the judiciary is paramount, perhaps now more than ever in the history of our republic,” he added.

Judge Walker will be replaced in the Disney v. DeSantis case by U.S. District Judge Allen Winsor, who was appointed by DeSantis’ GOP rival Donald Trump.
