    National Public Gardens Day, occurring annually on the Friday before Mother's Day, is a day to promote awareness of North America's public gardens. Come celebrate National Public Gardens Day with Leu Gardens, located at 1920 North Forest Avenue, Orlando. Public gardens are a special place that maintain plants for the purpose of education and enjoyment and what better way to enjoy this day than to explore and learn about the Gardens with the talented Horticulture Team. A series of 30-minute “Conversations in Bloom” with the Gardens’ Horticulture team have been planned throughout the day. You can choose which you would like to attend or stay the day for all them, included with garden admission.     Join Audubon Center for Birds of Prey for a special morning of activities including special meet and greets from Center bird ambassadors, conservation themed activities, crafts and more. Each spring Audubon Center for Birds of Prey hosts a Baby Owl Shower to raise funds to offset increased costs incurred during baby season. Baby season is the busiest season for bird care, sometimes Audubon Center care for over 100 young birds in May alone, tripling bird care costs. Audubon hosts the Baby Owl Shower to raise funds and awareness on how you can get involved with conservation. Join them on Saturday May 11, 2024 from 10 am - 12 om for crafts, games, a raffle and visits with the Center's Ambassador birds.     "The Magic Castle Still Stands" follows the journey of Harvey by train to New York City. The Magic Castle Still Stands will be premiering at this year's Orlando Fringe Festival on various dates from May 18 - 26, 2024. Brought to life by Vanessa Frances. who has written and produced The Magic Castle Still Stands, this will be Vanessa's first time producing a show at Fringe. Vanessa wrote this show after being fired from her first "Big Girl" job in February of 2021. She commented, "I was desperately terrified of flying, and took a train ride to visit my friend in Maryland. I was heavily influenced by 90s anime, 1800s literature, the inconveniences of Amtrak, and the kind of fear that can only be brought on when you have no idea what is happening next." Directed by Denver-based director Emily Kucala and starring the LA-based actor Amelia Bryant, "The Magic Castle Still Stands" promises to take audiences on a profound journey of self-discovery and reflection, and with stage management by Andy Renae, this production boasts a stellar creative team dedicated to bringing Vanessa's vision to life. Set against the backdrop of a train journey from Savannah, GA to New York City, "The Magic Castle Still Stands" unfolds as a compelling coming-of-age narrative. Audiences will follow the protagonist, Harvey, whose ordinary journey takes an unexpected turn when a collision between the train and a car connects her fate to her fellow passengers and her own past. As the story unfolds, the boundaries between reality and imagination blur, inviting audiences to delve into the surreal and introspective realm of Harvey's experience. Through her journey, Harvey grapples with the complexities of youth, maturity, and the profound implications of self-discovery.     The popular USA Today 10Best Awards has revealed its Top 10 Best Theme Park Restaurants for 2024, and four local favorites make the list. Earlier this year USA Today 10Best Awards asked a panel of theme park experts to nominate their top 20 theme park restaurants, before asking the public to vote for their favorites. With the results in, four popular Central Florida theme park restaurants have been named in the Top 10 Best Theme Park Restaurants for 2024. The first Central Florida theme park restaurant to make the list is Le Cellier Steakhouse at EPCOT in Walt DIsney World which came in at No. 10. Styled after the ozy cellar of a Canadian chateau, EPCOT's Le Cellier Steakhouse showcases north-of-the-border flavors in dishes like P.E.I. mussels, filet mignon. and maple creme brûlée. Adult diners have their choice of beer and wine as well. Zambia Smokehouse at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay made No. 8 on the list. Yak & Yeti, a Nepalese-style restaurant inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom, serves a menu of pan-Asian dishes — ahi tuna nachos, pork pot stickers, and tempura chicken — at the base of Expedition Everest.     Jamaican singer Beres Hammond has booked a return trip to Orlando this summer. Beres Hammond has risen to become popular in the 'digital' age of Reggae, although his career stretches uch further back to the 1970's. Considered by many to be one of Jamaica's finest contemporary vocalists, his best work has generally been captured on the 'Penthouse' and 'Xterminator' labels as well as his own 'Harmony House' imprint. The singer known to his many fans as ‘The Captain,’ with his distictive 'Bourbon on the rocks' vocal style remains very much active, both recording, producing, and perfomring. Now, almost a year after his last performance in Orlando, Beres is retuning this summer, taking to the stage once again at Hard Rock Live Orlando on August 23, 2024.     Howl-O-Scream Orlando is back and this year promises 4 years of spine-tingling fear.   • Eggs Up Grill opens in Orlando's O-Town West - Free Breakfast Giveaway being offered all week!

    A local couple that owns an Eggs Up Grill restaurant in Apopka has opened a new location at 11020 Daryl Carter Parkway near Dr. Phillips and Bay Hill - in the O-Town West area. Eggs Up Grill, a rapidly expanding breakfast, brunch and lunch concept, has started serving the most important meal of the day at its newest restaurant in Orlando. Located at 11020 Daryl Carter Parkway near Dr. Phillips and Bay Hill - in the O-Town West area - this is the second of three Eggs Up Grills for Franchise Partners Geoff Giordano and Kate Rozen. The couple also own a restaurant in Apopka, Fla., which is located near the Hunt Club Publix by Ace Hardware at 502 S. Hunt Club Blvd. The owners are celebrating the grand opening by giving the first 10 people free breakfast for a year, with one person being rewarded every day through Mother’s Day. The giveaway will be good for one meal each month for the first year. Prior to owning Eggs Up Grill, Giordano worked with Marriott International for 13 years. Rozen brings 25 years of marketing and branding expertise to the family business.  They are thrilled to have a local business to engage with the community directly, and to inspire their own young children. “What we have experienced since opening the Apopka Eggs Up Grill is the absolute joy of bringing the community together.
