New Disney baby!  Mom Juniper welcomed Julien, an addax, at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge just in time for Mother's Day. At Disney, every animal birth is important but there’s something extra special about an odds-defying, critically endangered baby addax welcomed just in time for Mother’s Day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! Two–month-old Julien is the newest member of the addax herd at Walt Disney World. These animals face possible extinction with less than 100 left in the wild and just over 180 in managed care across all organizations accredited by the Associations of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Julien stands just over an adorable two feet tall with a great head of hair and is as cute as can be. He is welcomed by his mom Juniper and the rest of the herd over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and he is the first male calf born at the resort. An ode to his mom and dad, Julien’s name is a combination of both Juniper and Allen, who are all a part of the larger herd. Actually, Walt Disney World is one of just 21 AZA accredited institutions who have addax in our care, and what better place to be able to see them than on the savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. As an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), Disney have collaborated with renowned experts to help increase populations of endangered and threatened species. Following AZA Species Survival Plans (SSP), Disney have welcomed the births of a variety of animals just in the last year. This birth is just one example of many that exemplifies the success of our continued work to breed at risk animals. Julien’s birth is an incredible win for the population of this species and for Disney's team of veterinarians and animal keepers who are over the moon to welcome another addax as they are so critical in the wild. This birth is just one of many examples that testifies to the level of care the animals receive. The critically endangered addax is a species of antelope known for their curly horns that calves are actually born with. This species of antelope is so rare, one of the few places in the entire world where they can be spotted outside of the Saharan desert in Africa is at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will take you on a storytelling journey that brings to life the spirit of Polynesia. Walt Disney World have today, Friday, May 10, 2024 revealed new details on the currently under construction DVC tower at Polynesian Village Resort, including a first look at concept art showing the inside of the tower, newly named, 'Island Tower'. Projected to open in December 2024, the proposed 10-story tower overlooking the stunning views of the Seven Seas Lagoon will celebrate the natural world, and of course, the magic of Disney. Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is located on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon and on the monorail line to Magic Kingdom, between the existing Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, which itself is adjacent to the Grand Floridian. Did you know that original concept designs for Disney’s Polynesian Resort featured a prominent tower as the heart of the resort? Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will complete the vision created by Disney Imagineers decades ago while embracing the rich culture from the Polynesian Islands. When you arrive at Island Tower, you will notice beautiful designs created exclusively for the exterior, including a gorgeous Manta Ray that symbolizes freedom, protection and grace. Inside the lobby, you will be greeted by an art panel installation on the ceiling inspired by several Polynesian Islands, showcasing wildlife native to each locale. Each animal holds a strong connection to the islands and symbolizes values important to Polynesians. Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated with over a dozen artists from around the world to create unique artworks that will be displayed throughout the resort. From preserved moss walls to sculptures made from recycled fishing nets, each piece will be inspired by the spirit of conservation and embody the rich cultures of Polynesia. Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will feature a variety of room types that will sleep from two to nine guests, such as duo studios, spacious one- and two-bedroom villas and brand-new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Many rooms will feature spectacular views. Comedian Brian Regan will hit the road this fall on a theater tour that will visit 20 cities nationwide, including Orlando. Acclaimed by critics, adored by fans and admired by fellow comedians as one of the best in the business, Brian Regan has announces his fall 2024 theater tour dates visiting 20 cities nationwide. Brian’s non-stop theater tour which began way back in 2005, has visited countless venues across the country, and will stop off in Orlando on Friday, December 6, 2024. Tickets are on sale now, via the Dr Phillips Center website. Brian co-stars in three seasons of Peter Farrelly’s TV series, Loudermilk, which moved to Netflix on January 1, 2024 ranking in the Top 10 TV shows on Netflix for over a month. Farrelly personally cast Brian in the series alongside Ron Livingston, Anja Savcic, Will Sasso and Mat Fraser.  Brian received praise for his portrayal of “Mugsy,” a recovering addict who is estranged from his family. Brian stars in two Netflix stand-up specials, Brian Regan: On The Rocks, and Brian Regan: Nunchucks And Flamethrowers, and he stars in his own Netflix series, Stand Up And Away! With Brian Regan.  Brian and Jerry Seinfeld Executive Produce the four-episode original half-hour series that combines sketch comedy and stand-up. Brian made history with his stand-up special, Brian Regan: Live From Radio City Music Hall, as the first live broadcast of a stand-up special in Comedy Central’s history. Mayfaire by-the-Lake is a juried fine arts festival held on the shores of Lake Morton in downtown Lakeland, Florida on Mother's Day weekend. Polk Museum of Art welcomes Mayfaire by-the-Lake back to the shores of Lake Morton on May 11 and 12, 2024. This annual event in downtown Lakeland will celebrate its 52nd year in 2024. This fine art festival started as a small craft show on the Lakeland Library lawn in 1971 and grew to be one of the most prestigious juried outdoor festivals in Florida. The free, 2-day event takes place each year on Mother’s Day weekend.  This year, more than 150 artists will showcase their work across a variety of different media. Families can visit an expanded Ruthven’s Mayfaire Kids Zone at its new and larger location on the corner of East Walnut and Indiana Avenue for free children’s activities. Mayfaire will offer free art activities for children of all abilities, and Polk Museum of Art located at 100 Lake Morton Dr, Lakeland,will be open to guests. Get ready for one heck of a party at Country Thunder Florida taking place this October at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee!
