It appears that the controversial re-theme for the beloved Splash Mountain ride at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World will be commencing soon.
Walt Disney World has now filed a permit with Orange County to begin work on the redevelopment of Splash Mountain into Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom.
The permit is for Project CY1899, with an expiration date of June 30 2024.
The permit shows that work will be undertaken by Belfour Beatty Construction, a long-time Walt Disney World construction partner.
Mostrecently, Belfour Beatty Construction has worked on Remy's Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT.
Walt Disney World have already announced that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will open at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in late 2024, buts far no date has been announced when Splash Mountain will close to commence the transformation.
Splash Mountain usually goes down for annual maintenance in early January each year, and it's rumoured that a January 2023 closure for Splash Mountain should be expected to start the refurbishment into Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
