More drama from DeSantis and his cronies as they fire Planning Board and assume Superior Authority

Another day brings yet more drama from Florida Govenor DeSantis and his band of cronies at The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board of Supervisors.

In what is now being seen as a running joke around the world, played out daily in the media, DeSantis and his self appointed board appear to be making rules up as they go along in the governor's battle against Disney, who's crime was to offer a different opinion to the Governor, how dare they!

The latest news today, Wednesday, April 19, is that the The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board of Supervisors have been busy with their "lets bring Disney down" agenda.

First piece of business today was for the board of supervisors, whose members were all hand picked by DeSantis to take over Reedy Creek Improvement District, to unanimously vote to terminate the Planning and Zoning Board members and appoint themselves, of course as the local planning agency.

This now makes the Board of Supervisors the final decision-making authority for the District with no right of appeal. This is what happens in dictatorships, and apparently now in Florida.

The next major news is that The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board of Supervisors has passed their “superior authority” resolution, yes they have made this new piece of legislation up too.

Resolution No. 639 amends article 6, chapter 6-90 and article 7, chapters 7-20 and 7-30 of the pre-existing RCID Land Development Regulations. These amendments ensure the new board has authority over the “reviewing, processing, evaluating, commenting on and approving, approving with conditions or denying applications for development orders throughout the District, including within the jurisdictional limits of City of Lake Buena Vista and the City of Bay Lake.”

A second reading and public hearing for the resolution are set for April 26, 2023, although legal experts throughout the country say that the resolution passed today is worthless, and will not be effective in taking control from Disney.

Plus,

They also said that in the future, they might consider acquiring more land under eminent domain, monetizing the district’s assets to pay off debt, banning COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates, asserting the board's “superior authority” over the district and exploring new zoning for the construction of affordable housing for Disney workers on Disney World property, sounds much better than building a prison!

We're sure there will be much more to come in this ongoing drama of the governor's own making.
