DeSantis now targets the Walt Disney World Monorail including forced downtime for state inspections

Today, Monday, April 25 has seen more meddling in Walt Disney World's business from a state governor who is determined to continue his unsightly campaign against one of the states biggest employers, and a company who has single handedly brought more tourism to Florida than any other company, all because Disney dared to offer a different opinion to that of the governor

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was in Japan today to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as part of a four-nation trade mission that is being seen as an attempt by the governor to improve his diplomatic profile ahead of an expected run as a Republican presidential candidate.

Meanwhile back home in Florida, an amendment filed by Republican Senator Nick DiCeglie appears to target the Walt Disney World monorail system for state inspections.

The amendment, which is attached to SB1250, seeks to introduce Florida Department of Transportation safety standards for “any governmentally or privately owned fixed-guideway transportation systems operating in this state which are located within an independent special district created by local act which have boundaries within two contiguous counties”.

Yes the special district is Reedy Creek, and yes, the fixed-guideway transportation systems is the Walt Disney World Monorail, and possibly the Skyliner System too!

This appears to be a direct attack on Disney's transportation system, and another blatant attempt to cause inconvenience to Disney's operations due to the fact the amendment includes the requirement that the transportation system must be suspended during safety inspections.

This means causing inconvenience to guests visiting Walt Disney World, and apparently makes the governor feel better in his war on Disney.
